Platoon TC Screenshot #1OK, after a long wait, the Platoon Total Conversion is finally here. I don't know about you guys, but at least I waited it almost the whole summer. And when you play it, you'll find out why it was worth the wait.

This TC changes almost everything in the game. Titlescreens, graphics and sounds. I first played it with music off, but when I tested it with musics, it felt like the whole game changed. Imagine this: you run through bushes as the "Ride of the Valkyries" plays at the background and you let your M16 or M60 sing along... You have to experience it!!

Duke art has been replaced by soldier art, and it looks good. We tested the game in multiplayer with old Duke art, and believe you me, it was so clear that you could take him out from across the map. And when we tested with new art, you were lucky if you saw him when you walked over him. Without night vision that is...

Of course guns have been modified too. Now you have M16, Shotgun, M60, M72, M26A1 Fragmentation Grenade, Flamethrower, Devastator, M18A1 APERS "Claymore" Mine and Sniper Rifle. Sniper Rifle is mainly for DukeMatch, although you can find it in at least one mission. It kills your enemy with one shot, but you have limited view when aiming. Also, you won't get a kill, when you assasinate your enemy, your enemy will simply lose one kill. Also, you can have one Trip Flare in your inventory list. This is only for DukeMatch, and when you place one on the ground, it will fire a firework-like flare straight up. It can be used to signal the presence of another player in a certain location.

Platoon TC Screenshot #2When Duke art and gun art has been changed, what is a good conversion without new enemies? Of course Platoon TC has new enemies, and they are pretty tough. There is four new enemies + one that can also take your life. They are: VietCong soldier with an AK-47 assault rifle, VC soldier with an RPD light machine gun, Kamikaze VC soldier, B-10 82mm Recoilless Rifle and Antipersonnel Mine. Soldiers are the easiest enemies to spot and kill, but when it comes to surprise kills, mine is the best. You can easily run over it, and if you go too fast.... BOOM! When you advance slowly, you can hear the click and may be capable of disarming it. Maybe.

Do you have any idea what is the best friend of the soldier? In this conversion, it's radio. In some levels there are radios, and using them (pressing space) you can call in air strikes and fire missions. But beware, artillery or airplanes can drop bomb a bit too early, and you'll have to start over.

This TC offers 6 tough Single-player missions and 7 DukeMatch maps to offer fun for days to come. With the good selection system for DukeMatch maps, you can easily change map without hanging-up between maps. In DukeMatch maps, there is also new versions of great DukeMatch maps like Arab City, Beirut 2 and Vietnam built for use with the Platoon TC. If you feel like there isn't enough of maps, you can check out the Platoon TC's homepage (http://www.mbnet.fi/~tnt/platoon/). There you can find many user maps for Platoon TC.

Hey, don't go yet! You didn't check out the screenshots yet, did you?
